Global Player with Japanese roots

With our Japanese roots as master builders, we are unique in the European market. We combine the high Japanese expectations for service and customer care with decades of experience in Europe. Founded in 1973 in Düsseldorf as a subsidiary of Takenaka Corporation, Takenaka Europe has expanded to 13 countries and has implemented around 1,500 construction projects. These have predominantly consisted of production facilities, offices, research centers, and logistics centers for multi-national companies such as Toyota, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Makita, Mando and Amada. Additionally, there have been several projects to create buildings according to special customer requirements such as Expo buildings, museums, restaurants, and the Japanese Embassy in Berlin. Our customers are predominantly active in the automotive, electronics, food, health, chemical and logistics industries. Step by step we are establishing ourselves in the market for sustainable housing and hotels. In 2018, Takenaka Europe’s total sales amounted to 475 million euros.

Measurable success thanks to international cooperation

Takenaka ensures certified process and construction quality at the highest levels. Our integral DESIGN&BUILD system integrates architecture, building technology, plant technology, and construction. We employ the latest technologies and are currently implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) at a variety of locations. In Japan, Takenaka has the world’s largest state-of-the-art institute for research and development. This is where future-proof technologies are being created to satisfy the increasingly complex requirements for modern buildings.

The more than 600 employees of 12 branches are fully familiar with their regional markets and exchange information through the global Takenaka network. As a result, we are equipped to constantly learn from each other, use local expertise and continuously deepen our competence as general contractors.

The most recent example of our success in international cooperation is the project for Jaguar Land Rover in Nitra, Slovakia.

For the execution of this first and strategically important high-tech plant for the British company on the European mainland, we brought together a range of competencies from several different branches. For this achievement, in 2019 Takenaka was awarded gold in the category “Best subcontractor in the non-automotive sector” in competition with 3,000 other companies.

Sustainably innovative

We use our international reach and take responsibility for the living spaces of our society. Sustainability is especially important to us. We design site-specific buildings, focusing on providing a high quality of life, promoting energy efficiency with renewable resources, and employing forward-looking technologies. Our goal when building is to be innovative and to not just meet standards, but always to exceed them.
